Peas and Apples.
This photo shows peas emerging between rows of newly-planted apples. Interplanting annual crops among young orchards is considered intensive planting in our area. Most growers do not use the land between rows of young trees. Some growers believe that competition from the interplanted crop delays orchard production by a year or more, but we haven't noticed such delays. There are more examples of intensive planting in other 2001 photos.
