Excellent Pie. I use Ida Red, Mutsu or Spy apples for best results.
Preparation Time:
45 min - 1 hour
Number of Servings:
Six Servings
Ingredients:
- 1 9" unbaked pastry shell
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 cup flour
- a few grains salt
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 6 cups peeled and sliced Quiet Acres apples (Want to know apple maturity dates?)
Method:
Mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Toss with apples; place in unbaked, unpricked pastry shell. Combine brown sugar and flour; cut in butter to crumble stage. Sprinkle over the pie filling. Bake at 425 F for 15 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 F and bake for another 45 minutes until apples are tender.
