Apple sauce is simple and easy to make. The results are very satisfying. It can keep a week to ten days in a airtight container in the refrigerator.

Cortland apples are my favorite apple for apple sauce although almost any apple can be used. My family enjoys cinnamon in apple sauce, but I never add sugar. I have always found apples have enough natural sugar for our taste. If you have a sweet tooth -and that's alright(!)- you may like to add sugar to suit your taste. We also enjoy apple sauce cold as a dessert, or warm with toast. We can make a meal out of it!

If you wish to can apple sauce, adding sugar will extend the shelf life.

45 min - 1 hour
